The WESPA flag was flying high across the Atlantic recently – held firmly and proudly in the hands of young Sarah Clement-Evans.
Sarah featured prominently at the hugely-prestigious USAIGC ( United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs ) World Championships in fashionable Reno – enhancing her burgeoning reputation as a star in the making.
The 15 year-old, who is a Year 10 student at Wallasey’s Weatherhead High School, headed back home to the Wirral with dizzying collection of medals and the respect of all those who saw her compete at the Peppermill Resort Spa in Nevada.
On the competition’s opening day Sarah fought her way through to Event Finals at Bronze Level in the Floor, Vault and Bars events – finishing a highly-creditable overall fourth in her age-group.
She also competed in two specialist events at Bronze Diamond level up and was placed joint-first on the Beam and first on the Floor – so progressing through to the finals of both events.
The following day Sarah finished fifth on the Vault and third on the Bars – she didn’t compete in the Floor competition as she had already qualified at a superior level.
She rounded off her magnificent tournament by finishing second on the Beam – and then becoming a USAIGC World Champion by winning on the Floor at Bronze Diamond Level!
“Sarah really does love being a part of WESPA, “ said her delighted Mum, Sue.
