WESPA Fire Netball Team Beat Bury In Tournament Final Thriller!

At the Sport For ALL Netball Tournament in Bury today it took a “Golden Goal” for the FIRE NETBALL girls to beat a top Bury team! After a 10-10 thriller in normal time followed by a 12-12 scoreline after extra time, the FIRE NETBALL girls had it all to do as Bury won the toss to take the centre pass in a golden goal decider. In typical Bury style the ball was worked towards WESPA FIRE’s defensive back court however the pressing defensive FIRE unit intercepted a potentially match winning Bury pass, and launched a counter-attack of their own that would see the first goal attempt in this thrilling final. With FIRE’s sideline support in full voice the gasps resounded throughout the venue as the referee blew for a foul and returned possession back to Bury literally two foot from their own net. Once again Bury worked the ball deep into the FIRE half but in true WESPA FIRE style the speed, agility and determination of every player saw yet another interception, and within 25seconds Kelly Drury scored the winner with a signature KD shot – WESPA FIRE were the Champions!
